Roller Derby hits Hamburg

hamburg_copenhagen

on June 12 the Harbor Girls hosted their first bout playing the Rolling Heartbreakers from Copenhagen. Final score: HG 90:177 RH

About 250 people attended the first bout in Hamburg at the Christianeum. Among them league members not only from Hamburg and Copenhagen, but derby folk from Malmö, Stockholm, Berlin, Bremen, Essen, Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart came to support the two teams.

Only nine months after starting the league and with only ten players on the roster the girls from Copenhagen playing in black and gold showed superior skating skills right from the beginnng. Obviously being coached by Ana Killingspree from the Mad Rollin Dolls in Madison is paying off for them. Both teams showed amazing performances for their first public bout. The Hamburg Girls fought well but found no way to stop the quick and agile jammers from denmark.

A great bout production ended with a great live band playing and an after party in St. Pauli that lasted until the fish market opened the next morning.
